Can I download eBooks and audio books?

You can download both eBooks and audio books and read/listen to them on a variety of devices.

Do I need my library card to download?

Yes, a library card is required in order to access the downloadable content as well as all of the other databases.

How long can I keep my downloaded materials?

The downloaded titles from OverDrive are yours for 7, 14 or 21 days.  You choose your preference when you set up the account on Overdrive and you can change it at any time.  If you’re borrowing from Hoopla, checkout is 72 hours for TV and movies; 7 days for music and 21 days for everything else.

How many e-audio books can I download at one time?

From OverDrive, you can have up to ten combined eBooks and audiobooks checked out given time. Each e-audio book will time out after 7, 14 or 21 days.  From Hoopla, you can check out 10 titles per month.

How do I start?

You’ll need to set up an account in Overdrive.  Once that’s done you can search for titles on the Overdrive main page or directly from the catalog and download from either location  To use Hoopla, start here.

What should I do if I have trouble downloading or accessing my titles?

If you run into any problems, call the Library and we’ll do our best to help you.

Will the downloaded titles show on my library card account?

All digital content that you check out through the MHLS should show on your account.
