Automatic Renewal

Is there anything better than not having to worry about something? We now have auto renewal. Here’s how it works:

Let’s say that you take out a book and it’s due in three weeks.
Two days before it’s due you’ll get an email letting you know that, because there are no holds by another patron on that book, it’s being automatically checked out to you for another three weeks. So you can finish the book at your leisure. You can still return it before the renewal period is up, but it really is one thing less to manage.

If the book can’t be renewed, you’ll get an email saying that it’s due at its normal time, saving you the trouble of thinking about renewing it and then finding out that you can’t.

Are there any catches? Well, just one. You need to have an email on file with the Library.

Summary

  • Materials check out will be automatically renewed for the same period of time that it was initially checked out for. One week? Renewed for one week. Three weeks? Renewed for three weeks.
  • If the material isn’t available for renewal, you’ll be notified.
  • But you must have your email on file at the Library to be notified.
