About the Friends

Welcome to the Friends of the East Fishkill Community Library! We welcome and encourage community involvement through membership, book donations, financial contributions, and volunteer opportunities.

Who We Are

The Friends of the East Fishkill Community Library is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) fund-raising advocacy organization that formed to enhance the mission of the Library.  We are a fun and friendly group of community residents like you who share a commitment to promoting and preserving a strong local library.  We work in cooperation with the Library to provide financial support for programs, special projects, and items that further enhance library services to the community.

Our members and donors provide support for the Library through our advocacy, awareness, and fundraising work.

Our Mission

The Friends mission is to inform and engage the community as to the Library’s resources, services, and needs.  We promote and encourage appreciation, understanding, enjoyment, and public use of the Library through fund-raising, advocacy, and programming. Our mission includes:

  • Sponsoring cultural programs and exhibits
  • Purchasing items for the Library above and beyond its ordinary budget
  • Encouraging sustaining gifts to the Library.

We provide many of the extras that make your visit to the Library so pleasant.  Here is just a sampling of the projects we sponsor:

  • Connectivity for two circulating hotspots
  • Museum passes in support of the Library’s Free Museum Pass program
  • Professional refurbishment of the pebble pathway originally installed by Eagle Scout Michael Lynch (Boy Scout Troop 86)
  • Installation of a dwarf Japanese maple tree and bench
  • Annual Volunteer Recognition reception
