Book Donations

Thank you for your interest in donating books to the Friends.  Throughout the year we hold book donation drives to collect books and other materials in good condition.  Follow the Friends Facebook page to stay current. You can also sign up to receive timely emails about book donation days and book sales by emailing us.

We appreciate donations of:

  • Hardcover and paperback fiction and non-fiction books; we have a specific need for current titles
  • Children’s books
  • Cookbooks
  • Large print materials
  • CDs, DVDs
  • Audio books on CD
  • Puzzles
  • Sheet music

We cannot accept:

  • Damaged books (e.g., broken bindings, missing pages, soiled, musty or moldy)
  • Books that have been stored for a long time in an attic or basement because they often become musty and do not sell
  • Clearly outdated books
  • Encyclopedias, textbooks, or reference books
  • Workbooks or study guides
  • Magazines/Periodicals
  • Condensed books (e.g., Reader’s Digest)
  • Ex-library books
  • Tapes of any kind, including cassettes, VHS

All donations must be in good condition, clean, dry, and mold free and free from tears, writing, and highlighting. Your donations must be in good enough condition for others to want to buy them.  If you would not give it to a friend, please don’t give it to the Friends!

Your adherence to these guidelines is appreciated.

Information on books not suitable for sale

As book lovers we try to give books a chance to make their way to a new reader, but sometimes we must say thank you and send them over the rainbow book bridge.

We sort and assess each donation we receive.  We clean, price, and categorize whatever we think can sell to raise funds for the Library. We recycle or trash donations that are in poor condition or unsaleable.
