Thank you for participating in the Library vote East Fishkill!

The Library vote is scheduled for Thursday, October 5, 2023 from noon until 9:00 PM and will be held in the Library Rotunda. All registered voters in East Fishkill are eligible to vote – if If you’re not sure if you’re registered, you can look it up here.

This year, the Library Board is seeking an increase of $52,896 which will bring the total levy up to $1,110,398. The purpose of the increase is to help cover the rising costs of essential services such as utilities, and to expand the library’s educational programming for adults and children with an emphasis on learning new skills; movement; and artistic expression. Library programs are offered free of charge to the community and for many local residents there is no other place to get free cultural programming in the area.

Running for three-year terms as Library trustees are incumbents Lori Cassidy, Roberta Wiener, and Karina Skoufalos. You can see their bios here.

For those who are unable to vote in person due to illness, school, business, or vacation, absentee ballot applications are available at the Library and online here. Submit the application in order to receive an absentee ballot. Completed absentee ballots must be returned to the library by 9 p.m. on October 4, the day before vote. Eligible East Fishkill voters who are registered with the Dutchess County Board of Elections as permanent absentees have already received a ballot mailed to their home.

And now, a brief bit of history. The Library was founded in 1938 with the donation of 100 novels. It has continued to grow and move and has been in this location for 23 years. Originally an association library, the community voted to create a special district in 2006 to ensure stable funding. The district was creating through an act of special legislation in which many of the rules which govern the library were established.
